The Border Terrier first originated between England and Scotland in the border countryside in the 18th century. He’s believed to be amongst Great Britain’s oldest terriers. He’s a persistent, agile, flexible dog who will squeeze through any hole or cover any terrain to chase his prey, the fox. He’s a great participant in events including obedience, agility and Earthdog events.
He’s a medium size dog with a wiry coat that’s coloured tan and grizzle, red, tan and blue or wheaten and has a dark muzzle. He has a great temperament and is very affectionate. He’s a fast learner but needs to be kept occupied and needs plenty of exercise. His weather-resistant coat only needs hand stripping twice a year and the occasional brushing. His height is 11.5 – 15.5 inches.
