The Brussels Griffon originated in Belgium and his ancestors were the Belgian street dog and the Affenpinscher. This dog was often used to catch rats and he became a pet for many Belgian households. The Brussels Griffon is a great watchdog and can easily learn numerous tricks.
He has a curious, affectionate and charming personality which makes him suitable as a pet. However, he’s not one that needs pampering. He does need a daily walk and can live in an apartment or small home because of his size. He can have a smooth or rough coat and it needs to be brushed twice a week and shaped four times a year. He weighs 8 – 10 pounds maximum and is 7 – 8 inches tall.
